WHY WALKING IS ENOUGH EXERCISE

Walking is ENOUGH exercise to lose weight! There I said it! Are you one of those people who join the gym with great intentions and enthusiasm and then feel guilty when you don’t/won’t get there often enough? I think you should just cancel that membership, because after reading this, you will wonder whatever possessed you to sign up for it in the first place!

DON’T RUN!  WALK!!

Don’t run from starting a regular exercise regime, walk! I have read tons of stuff over the years on exercise and diet and losing weight. I have even practised most of the things I have learnt. The one thing I can tell you for a fact is that you HAVE TO  combine exercise with good eating to get any real results and keep them! But STOP!  This is not about developing a great regime, start walking, improve your fitness and move on to ‘real’ exercise. I mean, just walk! Nothing else required! Ever!

LAZY OR JUST SMART?

 

I am as lazy as they come sometimes and I would rather go to the dentist than the gym! I’m not joking! Though in recent years I haven’t been to either. The fabulous thing is I know I don’t have to join the gym or do fancy classes for weight loss results. In fact I lost 30 kilos with just walking! Need more convincing? Well here are reasons why walking is the only exercise you need to commit to forever!

BORED? 7 THINGS TO DO INSTEAD OF EAT.

Do you eat when you’re bored?  I eat when I’m bored! I also eat when I’m sad, lonely, angry or happy.  You name the emotion and/or situation and I could probably eat something!  Of-course none of this is a problem if you’re happy with your weight and constantly only eat healthy food.  For the rest of us it is challenging to stick to a healthy eating plan to meet our goals.

7 THINGS TO DO INSTEAD OF EAT

 

Here are my top 7 things to do when you’re bored, sad, happy or insert any emotion here instead of eat

  1. SORT OUT PHOTOS

OMG! This is going to take you hours!  You’re probably going to have to set an alarm to remind you to eat lunch!

When was the last time you even saw the state of your old photo albums and photos?  If it was the last time you used a 35mm camera, then you’ve got your work cut out for you.  Maybe you should even think of printing some of the gazillion digital images you have.

 

  1. READ SOMETHING GREAT

The great thing about this idea, is there is no pantry or fridge in your local library! You will get absorbed in a great book and not even notice! You could just sit at the local park with a magazine/kindle if books and libraries aren’t your thing.  If you walk there and back you’ve just exercised as well!

 

  1. CLEAN THE OVEN

Ok, ok, first hear me out on this one!  Cleaning the oven is no-ones favourite activity but it NEEDS to get done some time! There a plenty of products on the market that you can just spray in and not wait hours and hours before you can clean the oven. It’s physical and you can’t eat wearing rubber gloves!

 

  1. REVAMP YOUR ENTIRE WARDROBE OR SHOE COLLECTION!

    Now this is not supposed to make you feel like crap but if somethings doesn’t fit quite right this could motivate you to stick to that healthy eating plan.  Also it is a great thing to do every so often to organise your wardrobe, throw things out and plan outfits for the season ahead. (Even a great time to write a shopping list for new clothes)!

  1. SORT OUT YOUR TUPPERWARE CUPBOARD

This is one thing that is on my to do list very often.  You know what it’s like.  It’s the cupboard everyone just chucks in their Tupperware and other plastic containers without any real system to keep it neat and tidy!  Well you can make this a mini spring cleaning moment and haul everything out of that cupboard and sort it out!

 

  1. GET ONTO PINTEREST

If you haven’t joined PINTEREST yet, you really don’t know what you’re missing!  It’s a fabulous place to browse through gorgeous images and create ‘board’ to ‘pin’ them on.  Need a new pair of boots for winter but not sure what style? Get on pinterest and do a search! Just make sure you resurface before winter is over!  I can’t tell you how many hours I have been lost on pinterest.

 

  1. DO YOURSELF UP!

If you’re bored, this is the best time to decide to do your nails! You can’t go rummaging through the pantry or fridge when your nails are wet! This could also be the time to shave your legs, try that fake tan or practise doing your eyeshadow! All of these things don’t take a lot of time but we never seem to have ‘enough’ time to do them. Doing something like this will also make you feel a lot prettier and better about yourself!

FLABBY ARMS? TONE THEM IN 5 MINUTES A DAY!

WHICH BODY PART DO YOU HATE THE MOST?

 

If you had to pick ONE body part that you’d really like to fix,

that would make the WORLD of difference,

what BODY PART would you pick?

 

 When you’re looking at photos of yourself which body part makes you CRINGE THE MOST?

 For me that’s my flabby arms.  Short sleeves and sleeveless clothes are a constant reminder of my flabby arms and you just cannot hide them!  Yes, you have those daggy ‘wraps’ and ‘bolero’ jackets or ‘sheer’ sleeves to help but I really cannot be bothered with any of those.  Especially when the weather is soooo hot!  I’m hardly going to look like I have skinny arms with any of those on! So what to do??
