It is the single most important discovery for weight loss in my experience!  The main reason being that it makes you feel fuller for longer than anything else!  It does this by keeping your blood sugar well-balanced so you don’t get cravings to eat any sugary crap!  Without a doubt, if you were feeling peckish and had a biscuit (or more) it wouldn’t be long before you felt like eating another biscuit.

However, if you ate a high protein snack a couple of hours after breakfast it would be more likely that you would feel satisfied until lunch.  Your chances of wanting to eat something high in sugar would greatly be diminished!

Here are a few of my favourite protein snacks for weight loss that have helped me.  They always keep me full till the next meal!

PROTEIN SNACKS FOR WEIGHT LOSS

ALMONDS

Almonds are my absolute favourite! When I go out for the day, I have a small Tupperware container I keep my serve of almonds in.  It has saved me from many a ‘hangry moment’! The things is you really need a drink with them too, so you definitely feel full after you’ve had some water as well.  Convenience is key to being able to create and keep healthy habits so almonds are the perfect protein snack for weight loss!

I count mine out so I don’t have too many! 20=140 calories (more or less depending on their size)

BOILED EGGS

Every so often I will boil  a few eggs at a time and keep them in the fridge for snacking purposes! They are extremely quick and easy when you can just grab it out of the fridge, peel it and away you go. I add a pinch of salt and I’m set!

BEEF PATTIES

Another of my protein snacks for weight loss I like to have on hand in the fridge is burger patties.  I make them myself with just mince, egg, onion and spices! That’s it! Make them into patties, fry them up (fat is not the enemy) and I make a whole container full.  I make them into 100g portions which is easy to do.  If I buy a kilo of mince then I just make sure to count out 10 patties!  I don’t use any bread crumbs!  I don’t know why recipes have bread crumbs in them. There is absolutely NO NEED! I also like to dip my patty with either some mustard or tzatziki depending on what I feel like at the time!

HAM & CHEESE SLICE

Who doesn’t like ham and cheese! I just take a slice of ham and a slice of cheese, roll them together and it is so yummy! And so easy! I also love eating salami with cheese as a quick snack too.  I have to admit I make sure I don’t have this snack too often as I try not to eat too much processed meats even if they are high in protein!

TINNED SALMON/TUNA

This is also another of my protein snacks for weight loss I have on hand in the pantry all the time! I especially love salmon in olive oil! Remember; fat is not the enemy, and I find the ones in spring water so dull and boring! I don’t want to feel like I’m on a diet, so I always choose the ones in oil! Just delicious! And with all those omega 3s I feel like I’m definitely ultra healthy!

TURKEY SLICE

Smoked turkey is my favourite of  processed meats that I get from the deli section at our local supermarket.  Again it’s a quick snack that has great flavour.

CHICKEN BREAST PIECES

I buy a kilo of chicken breast, cut it up into 50 – 100g pieces roll them in tandoori paste and bake them in the oven!  When I want a snack I just grab a piece or 2 with tzatziki dip and I’m in heaven.  I got this idea from a recipe for a main meal that involved rice.  I just love that spicy tandoori flavour with cooling tzatziki! I will tend to alternate one week to the next.  One week I’ll make a container of tandoori chicken breast and the other burger patties!

  1. I like your idea of meat patties and chicken pieces cooked and ready to eat as snacks. I’m going to try this. I love almonds, all nuts really, but i can’t stop at 20. 😕

  2. Oh protein! I have grown to love it. I enjoy making egg white omelettes with turkey and chesse. High in protein and low in carbs. I also love special k protein cereal for a snack, they have tons of flavors. We are a nut free house so I have to stay away from the almonds. Great list.
